Making a difference for grieving children, teens and adults…
Camp HavenHeart retreats are held throughout the year. See below for what’s coming up next!
Camp HavenHeart is a special bereavement retreat that brings together the fun of a recreational camp with grief support for children, teens and families. Campers spend a weekend of fun and healing with others who have experienced the death of a loved one.
Camp counselors are Hope Hospice staff as well as specially trained community volunteers who have contributed their time year after year. Meals and lodging facilities (if an overnight camp) are provided. Camp is free to participants.
Upcoming Camp Opportunities:
The next Camp HavenHeart will take place on the weekend of October 26-27, 2019 at John Knox Ranch in Fischer, TX. This camp is specifically for youth ages 7 to 18 who have experienced the death of a loved one. Camp HavenHeart Youth combines the fun of an outdoor camp with therapeutic grief activities to help youth memorialize loved ones, while learning healthy ways of coping with grief. Campers also have the opportunity to connect with others who have had similar experiences, while participating in activities such as, canoeing, archery, art, and sharing circles. Camp HavenHeart Youth includes an overnight stay and is free to attend.
Children must be able to attend all of camp (no partial attendance). To register, submit a camp application to our office before the registration deadline (September 27, 2019). Applications are available at the link below. A screening interview is required for all children, and campers are accepted on a first-come, first served basis after it is determined that they are emotionally ready to participate in and benefit from the camp. Priority will be given to those who have not yet attended one of our camps. Space is limited.
