Providing HOPE to the Community since 1984

Hope Hospice, like most businesses today, finds itself challenged to do more with less.  Rising gasoline prices and the overall cost of doing business has led to budgetary constraints which place the not-for-profit hospice in the position of reducing its workforce.  The goal of Hospice is to provide quality end-of-life care in the homes of people in our community. Since members of our community can be as far as fifty miles away, gas prices and Medicare cuts have challenged us to do more with less.

May 14, 2008 saw Hope Hospice reduce its workforce to more closely match both the patient workload and the rising costs of doing business today.

Shelton Bratcher, Executive Director of Hope Hospice, states, “We have modified our staffing models to more accurately reflect national averages in order to remain cost effective.”

According to Cheryl Parchman, Patient Care Director, “The last time we had a challenge like the one we face today, patient care was not affected, nor will it be this time.”

Opal Umpierre, one of the founding members of Hope Hospice, adds, “Since the beginning of this organization, our wonderful community has embraced us with love and support. We are acutely aware of the trust this community has placed in us.  We desire to be good stewards of this trust.”  Hope Hospice will continue to support the community with the best end-of-life care, just as it has done for the past twenty-four years.
