Hope Hospice Exceeds National Benchmarks

Patients in Comal, Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Bexar or Kendall counties can benefit from Hope Hospice’s excellence in care and comfort.  For National Hospice Month, here are some facts to consider from national benchmarking data sets:

  • In 2007 and to date in 2008, Hope Hospice has consistently exceeded the national average in number of weekly visits to a patient by a social worker.  Hope Hospice recognizes that because of a wide variety of factors including geographic distance, media and electronic distractions, or changes in our cultural dialog, families today are not as well equipped to cope with stress and are more likely to need extra support from a social worker.
  • The percentage of non-cancer diagnosis patients Hope Hospice serves continues to steadily rise farther and farther above the national average.  Because our patients are facing a wider variety of illnesses, our care team is more experienced in handling a wider variety of illnesses than the average hospice clinician nationwide.
  • Hope Hospice spends twice as much time caring for unfunded patients as the average national hospice.  Because of the support we get from the community, we’re able to serve anyone in our area who needs hospice care, regardless of their financial situation.

Hope Hospice has also been celebrating National Hospice Month with a series of City (New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin and Wimberley) and County (Comal) Proclamations and an area tour of its famous quilts.
