Benefits of Early Inquiries into Hope Hospice Care

Patients in Comal, Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Bexar or Kendall counties can benefit from Hope Hospice’s excellence in care and comfort.  To close out National Hospice Month, here are some final facts to consider from national benchmarking data sets:

  • 98.8% of families surveyed 2-3 weeks after their family member’s admission to Hope Hospice reported being satisfied with every aspect of care including the frequency and quality of care, the dependability and accountability of staff, level and quality of communication, respect for patients and family members and availability and quality of weekend/after hours services.
  • In spite of the extreme level of satisfaction our patients’ families report with Hope Hospice services, timeliness of patient referrals continues to be a challenge.  Hope Hospice makes every effort to continually educate the public and other healthcare professionals about the importance of early referral to hospice care.  The benefits of inquiring into Hope Hospice services earlier rather than later include alleviating pain and symptoms sooner, a longer length of time to establish relationships with the Hope Hospice care team, a stronger support network for the family and a stronger sense of preparedness among family members for basic caregiving as well as how to handle a healthcare crisis.

Hope Hospice has also been celebrating National Hospice Month with a series of City (New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin and Wimberley) and County (Hays) Proclamations and an area tour of its famous quilts.  There are still a few days left to see some of the quilts.
