Bereavement

The Long Farewell

Grief has no calendar; it wears no watch. It doesn't read self-help books or listen to friends. It almost always comes unexpectedly and with unimagined intensity, even when a loved one's death was anticipated. More importantly, it doesn't magically disappear when we would like it to or when those around us think it should. Preconceived ideas about the grieving process--including what the mourner should feel and how long those feelings should last--abound. The truth is, there is no right or wrong way to grieve, just as there is no right or wrong way to fall in love. The experience is different for everyone.

Message from Jane Marie    Jane Marie Young

The loss of your loved one can be one of the most painful and challenging experiences you will ever have. It is a journey without a map. It may bring up many fears about facing a life in which your loved one is no longer present. As unchartered as the path may appear, this journey is somewhat predictable. Others have gone before you and can be a source of great comfort and guidance. No one can take this journey for you, but no one need take the journey alone. Education, individual counseling and group support all help the grieving process. Our bereavement team offers you our genuine care and concern, encouragement and companionship, which, over time, may help you to find meaning in your loss.
